The story.

§01 — About

Woodcraft is a woodworking design app for Mac and iPad, built by a solo developer.

CAD is where most woodworking projects die. The pro packages are expensive, subscription-locked, and modelled on machine shops, not benches. Woodcraft works the way woodworkers think: add real lumber at real dimensions, cut it with a miter saw that accounts for blade kerf, drop in mortise-and-tenon or half-lap joints that generate their own geometry, and read fractional measurements off the model. The bill of materials and cut list update live, organized by stock — so the plan you leave with is one you can take to the shop.

Eight years of design and iteration went into this. Not because the geometry is hard — because making a shop feel obvious on a touchscreen took that long to figure out. Woodcraft's answer is indirect manipulation: tools don't float over your model, they live in their own viewport with a full, rich interface. On an iPad that means your hand never covers the work you're measuring. On a Mac it means the tools can offer controls a floating overlay could never hold — which is exactly why traditional CAD, built on overlays, has always had to keep them small.

It's native Swift and SwiftUI with a Metal renderer. Any design can leave the screen: send a model to an iPhone or iPad and stand it on the floor at full scale in augmented reality, or, on macOS 27, push it live to Apple Vision Pro through the new SpatialPreview framework and keep editing at the desk while the piece sits beside you. Walk around a piece before you cut anything and you find out what the drawing never told you.

Buy it once and it's yours. Each app is a one-time purchase — no subscription, no expiry, and early buyers keep their price as the app grows.

One-line description

Woodcraft is a woodworking design app for Mac and iPad, built by a solo developer, that models real lumber, real cuts, and real joinery — and hands you a cut list you can take to the shop.

Short boilerplate

Woodcraft is a woodworking design app built by a solo developer for people who work wood, not machine shops. Add stock at real dimensions, cut it with tools that behave like the ones on your bench, and let the bill of materials and cut list build themselves as you design. Native Swift, SwiftUI and Metal, with live spatial preview on Apple Vision Pro. Bought once, not rented.

Company boilerplate

Woodcraft is made by 1Echo Solutions Inc., an independent software company based in Québec, Canada.

Quotes you can use.

§03 — Quotes

“Every woodworker I know designs twice: once in the software, and again at the bench when the software turns out to have been lying. I wanted a tool that told the truth the first time.”

François-Jean de Brienne — Maker of Woodcraft

“A board has a thickness. A blade has a kerf. A joint has to fit. Model those honestly and the cut list stops being a guess.”

François-Jean de Brienne — Maker of Woodcraft

“You shouldn't have to rent the drawings of your own furniture. You bought the app; the work is yours.”

François-Jean de Brienne — Maker of Woodcraft

“Seeing a piece standing at full scale next to your desk, before a single cut, changes what you decide to build.”

Using the name and mark

  • Write the product name as Woodcraft — one word, capital W. “Woodcraft 2” is fine when the generation matters.
  • Don't recolour, stretch, or add effects to the app icon, and leave it clear space of at least a quarter of its width.
  • Screenshots may be scaled and placed in device frames, but please don't edit the interface itself.
  • The company is 1Echo Solutions Inc. — capital E, no space.
